Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica participates in construction of airline infrastructure in the Russian Far East
September 12, 2019. Moscow — PJSC Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica (hereinafter — the Company or the Group), one of the leaders in the Russian engineering market, fulfilled its contract obligations in full and on time for the project to build a new domestic passenger terminal of Khabarovsk International Airport (Novy), which is the largest airport in the Far Eastern federal district of the Russian Federation. The new terminal capacity is 3 million passengers per year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ceremoniously launched the new air transport infrastructure facility in the Russian Far East on September 5, 2019. The terminal was built in less than 1.5 years as a public-private partnership. UK KOMAKS LLC, the managing company of Khabarovsk (Novy) Airport, has become a private co-investor in the project.
In this project, the Company acted as a supplier to the general contractor - consortium Limak-Marashstroy (Turkey), a strategic partner of Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica. The Turkish company has extensive international experience in infrastructure construction. The consortium has proved itself in Russia, having built the international airport Platov in Rostov-on-Don from scratch, during preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
As part of this project, PJSC Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica implemented the following:
-
design work, including a visit by specialists to the facility;
-
deliveries of DKC cable support systems, Schneider Electric products — a power busbar, power transformers and cells, switchgear, fire alarm systems, supervisory control systems, variable frequency drives, controller equipment and software for building automation systems; connection to MDB;
-
lighting calculations were made for the airport's facade, and Bega (Germany) lighting equipment was installed.
Ilya Kalenkov, General Director of PJSC Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica, commented on this event: "The Krasnodar and Moscow branches of our Company managed to steadily work on this significant project. The volume of our deliveries amounted to about RUB 100 million in 2018–2019. We opened a remote branch in Khabarovsk to successfully implement the project and further develop our Company in the Far Eastern federal district.
The positive outcomes of the project have already provided new opportunities for cooperation with partners such as Limak-Marashstroy (Turkey), Schneider Electric, and DKC. Currently, we supply electric switchboard equipment for the construction of a new domestic terminal of Chelyabinsk International Airport (Balandino). We are also defining our participation in similar projects in the airports of Novosibirsk, Urengoy, Mirny (Yakutia), and Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg).
60 Russian airports will be brought into accordance with international standards by 2025 as part of the ongoing federal program for the revival of domestic flights in Russia. We realize that we have a lot of work to do, and we have all the necessary resources for successful implementation of projects of this scale, including our established relationships with key vendors, a team of experienced project developers and project managers, and serious financial opportunities."
FOR REFERENCE:
Construction of the new airport complex of Khabarovsk Airport (Novy)
Khabarovsk International Airport (Novy) is a federal A class airport. The international airport will bear the name of Admiral Gennady Nevelsky, one of the outstanding explorers of the Far East.
The construction of a new passenger terminal of domestic airlines is the first stage of reconstruction of the airport's airfield complex, which is being implemented as a part of the federal program "Development of Russian transport system". The airport development project includes reconstruction of the airport complex and construction of terminal airport infrastructure and an AirCity commercial development zone.
This facility was designed by Assmann beraten+planen (Germany) in cooperation with the WP | ARC (Germany) architectural bureau. The general contractor of the construction is Limak-Marashstroy consortium (Turkey). The technical customer is DBC Consultants.
The total investment volume in the construction of the terminal, with an area of 27,000 square meters, amounted to RUB 4.9 billion. Project financing in the amount of RUB 3.9 billion was provided by VEB.RF and the Far East Development Fund and RUB 1.0 billion was provided by a private investor. This project is being implemented in a priority development area and entitled to the corresponding benefits.
The new terminal is equipped with three boarding bridges, 12 elevators for various purposes and 7 escalators, which will simplify travel for senior citizens and people with disabilities. During the construction of the terminal, about 1,000 piles for the foundation were used, more than 13,000 tons of concrete were poured, about 2,500 tons of armature for reinforced concrete work and about 1,000 tons of steel structures were used. More than 600 glass units of facade glazing systems by Schüco (Germany) were installed. About 600 people and more than 20 pieces of equipment worked on the construction of the terminal.
The project will significantly increase the airport's capacity: in the next 10 years, it is expected to double the passenger traffic of the Khabarovsk air hub to 4 million passengers per year.
Also in 2018, the construction of a cargo terminal commenced at Khabarovsk Airport in cooperation with Sojitz Corporation (Japan). The opening of the terminal is planned for 2023.
